
Singing weekends
with
Doug Eunson, Sarah Matthews, and Jess & Richard Arrowsmith
We run residential singing weekends at YHA hostels once or twice a year. These weekends offer the opportunity to do lots of singing in a relaxed and sociable way. There will be taught workshops where you learn folk songs in parts, and others where you get to work on some specific aspect of singing or harmonising. There will also be singing sessions where you can lead a song (or several), join in a chorus, or just listen and enjoy whatever others choose to share.
You won’t be expected to sing on your own unless you want to, and while lyrics and sheet music will be provided for the main workshops, everything will be taught by ear so there is no expectation that you should read music or have a particular level of experience.
The full cost of the weekend is £135 for adults aged over 26 and £60 for those aged 26 and under.
This includes:
– 2 nights hostel accommodation (shared rooms with bunks)
– all sessions, workshops & concert with Doug, Sarah, Jess & Richard
– Saturday evening meal, and tea/coffee throughout
Please note you are welcome to make your own arrangements for accommodation if a shared hostel room does not work for you. Unfortunately, we can’t offer a discount for anybody staying offsite, as our numbers are restricted by space for the workshops and concert rather than beds and our costs remain the same regardless of whether you stay in the hostel or not.
You need to bring:
– food for other meals and money for the bar
(you will have access to hostel kitchen facilities)

Terms & Conditions
- Your £60 deposit secures your place for a specific weekend. If your plans change and you can no longer attend, please do get in touch. Although we’ve stated that the deposit is non-refundable, we would try to re-sell the place and could then either roll your deposit over to a future weekend, or refund. However we cannot guarantee that this will be possible.
- Once you’ve paid your deposit, we will contact you 4 months before the event date with a booking form, and details of how to pay the balance which will be due 3 months before the event. (If you book and pay less than 4 months before the event date this will happen straight away within a few days of making your booking.)
- In the event of failure to pay the balance by the stated deadline your place will be offered to our waiting list but the deposit cannot be refunded.
- In the event of last minute cancellation of a specific event due to extreme weather, we’re unlikely to be able to offer a full refund as the hostel and caterer will probably still charge us. We will offer a partial refund if we can.
- Once you’ve paid your balance, this is also non-refundable if you are unable to attend for any reason. As with the deposit, we would try to re-sell the place and could then either roll your payment over to a future weekend or refund, but we cannot guarantee that this will be possible.
- If you pay deposit and/or balance, find that you cannot come yourself, but have somebody else who could make use of your place instead then that is absolutely fine – please let us know as soon as this is confirmed so that we can share details with them, and amend room allocations and meal orders/dietary requirements as necessary.
- For any refunds, we will need to communicate with you directly to arrange a bank transfer into your account – we are unable to refund deposits back on to the card you paid with.
